Two days ago a young emu walked out of a mobile zoo in Moriyama, Japan. Residents called the police about an ostrich. It stayed loose for about two hours. You are the emu. Do better.

What actually happened

On Wednesday 23 September 2026 an emu hatched last year walked out of Horii Zoo, a mobile zoo in Moriyama, Shiga Prefecture. It was about 1.8–2 m tall.
Staff had let it roam near the entrance. The iron push gate was fastened with a rubber rope. Staff last saw it inside at 06:30; the first emergency call came at about 06:45.
Callers told police an ostrich was wandering the neighbourhood.
Police chased it for about two hours, cornered it at an apartment complex, and walked it out through a narrow passage. Nobody was hurt, the emu included.
The same zoo has had escapes before: a kangaroo in 2010 and three porcupines in 2013.

Emu facts used in the game

Emus can sprint at 48 km/h, with strides up to 2.75 m. In 1932 the Australian army was sent after emus in Western Australia and failed, an episode remembered as the Great Emu War.
